• high-potassium vegetables - a problem?

Why are some high-potassium vegetables like spinach a problem for people with kidney
    disease?

Our kidneys regulate our fluid balance, they also regulate the levels of electrolytes in our
body, they regulate our body s acidity, and make a red blood cell production stimulating
    hormone erythropoeitin.

Potassium is also regulated by the kidney, if too high more will be secreted into the
urine. In some kidney failure patients the kidney has lost part of this capability, thus
can t get rid of an excess of potassium intake.

A too high potassium serum level causes an intractable cardiac arrest we call asystole,
    100% fatal.
