• Do antioxidants make cancer worse?

There is an optimal line regarding antioxidants, more is not better. The way that our
immune systems eradicate cancer is through oxidation. Chemotherapy and radiation also
    work through oxidation.

So we don t advise taking antioxidant supplements during chemotherapy and radiation. I
personally don t advise antioxidant supplements at all given the lack of benefit
demonstrated so far in clinical trials which seem to indicate a higher cancer and
mortality risk. Opinion | Don t Take Your Vitamins

It seems, not unsurprisingly as in many things in life, that there is an optimal level of
oxidation in our bodies. Suppressing that is not healthy.

What I advise is that patients take 5 plus servings of fruit and vegetables a day. Food
contains many poorly identified micronutrients as well as the known vitamins. When
ingested, the roughage delays absorption over many hours. This is thought to have
positive effects on the microbiome and immune system.
