• New Game 'OfficeSpace'

From zharvek@21:2/132 to All on Sat Feb 14 17:47:44 2026
So some of you might know that I have been working on a BBS game called OfficeSpace from the MRC discussions.

I've gotten to a point that I need some feedback if people are willing to give it a shot.

It is an ANSI game, it currently being hosted, and can be added to any system by an outgoing telnet connection to bbs.archaicbinary.net port 2225.

The nature of the game does require centralized hosting as it operates as a sort of "MMO". Users can connect to the system and login, accessing their characters directly.

The game uses a moving mapping system similar to Arrow Bridge or LORD2. Enemies are randomly generated, as are events. There are quests, npcs, objects, items, "spells", terminal access, and other things to interact with. There is no 'daily limit' on moves like other BBS games used to limit daily actions.

The game can also be found on Archaic Binary (bbs.archaicbinary.net 23)

    Thanks!

It sounds interesting. From the name, it sounded like something that might be based on the movie Office Space (1999), but from the description, it sounds like it's not?

It has some references to the movie with a few quest lines, some npc
texts, objects, etc, but the story (from what story there is so far)
takes place in a multiple story office building.

Things start out office-normality, funny fights, first weapon is an
Amazon Basics Keyboard, office humor. As I have progressed in the map
design floor three starts some of the weird out of place things
    introducing more "sci-fi"-ish things.

I plan on adding many ARG elements as well. Using terminals in the game
to post messages to other players, getting "encryption codes" from
    events or NPCs to "decrypt".

I don't have a perfectly fleshed out story theme yet, but it's growing.

I know yer in beta, but if you ever offer this as an RLOGIN/server door, lemme know and I'll steer 2oFB users to it!!

    Very fun!

You should be able to push users to a outgoing telnet connection; bbs.archaicbinary.net on port 2225

That should bring them to the user login and then directly into the
game. If this is not working please let me know as it works for me
    directly connecting.

What I need at the moment is more people looking at it/playing so I get
    more direction.

    Thanks again man!

Ok - I'm going to try and set this up tonight... if that brings 2oFB users right to Office Space that'll be great; will test.

Dude - its really fun... I'll make a post or two on 2oFB and tell users how sick it is. Great w0rk!!
