And internet archive apparenly already has backed it up.

So OS/2 fans will still have access to the files, nothing should be
lost (so I hear).

Virtual or antique... a friend of mine handed me a boxed copy of OS/Who when
I was getting TLP setup.. I was still considering trying to find some real metal to run it on.. but ended up with 4 x virtual boxes and MS-SOD..

the hobbes archive has a lot of fairly modern stuff in it, mixed in with all the oldschool software. that's why older archives on e.g. archive.org might not be great. and an old purchased hobbes cdrom would have been outdated pretty quickly when it was contemporary (the incoming folder had a steady stream of new stuff even into the late 00's)

i suppose most of the newer stuff may have shifted from stuff for every category to mainly necessities (compilers, libraries, development and documentation stuff). if a new game showed up there, there'd probably be a parade.

I would suggest asking in the FSX_RETRO echo as there might be some folks
there who still dabble with it. I was running it on an older pentium
until a couple of years ago. It was a good platform to run a DOS BBS
under.

Sounds like a good setup. :) I also had an AMD 386DX-40 for a while. I really enjoyed that system.

I know some of them, and I have a OS/2 VM running at home - but since
there's most likely not been a lot of change going on, you could buy a
DVD and have an archive of it.

Rumor has it that the Internet Archive snarfed the contents of Hobbes
and has it online now.

That was my kit in 1992-1993 - I ran all of my stuff in one window
and created a DOS VDM with Lantastic drivers to talk to the BBS, which
was running DOS.

Those AMDs ran great - mine lasted way into the 486 era.
