I had an old pc in the past that i used to connect to BBS servers in the past but that pc is starting to get old and pretty heavy at this point compared to the new notebooks so i have a new pc but i dont have any software that can do telnet (well i do have one that is this right now but PuTTY isn't the best). Does anyone know a good program that can do Telnet and also have support for downloads it would be very much appreciated if someone could help me in finding a new program!

I use SyncTerm. Works great! You don't have to necessarily add all of the sites from it's
database. As far as I know, you can use it for just the sites you want to connect to.

I use Syncterm and Magiterm, both with linux. Syncterm also has a Windows version. I *think* Magiterm might also.

I use it on Mac. I use it under Crossover. It's not 100% but works pretty well.

I think the upscaling of CP437 is what sets it apart from SyncTerm. Unless you can do this with SyncTerm too?

I posted a good while ago hoping we could get a flatpack version of this. Then it would just work on everything. g00r00 would have to do it and as hard as he works on Mystic I doubt we can push for more effort as the BBS world relies on him quite a bit. Maybe one day.

Crossover is a pretty good emulator thing for running windows programs on mac but its not free so idk if i can use it. I'm on a pretty tight budget right now so i might not be able to afford it is there maybe a waz to run it under wine or something similar?

When trying to connect in to Mystic with SSH I got:
    "No common key algorithm"

So have reverted back to 0.7.5 for now.

I replaced all communication libraries with async ones the SSH library works but doesn't support a wide range of ciphers - the very new ones should be covered but I'm aware that it fails for some BBSes.

I recommend staying on 0.7.5 unless you're running in bugs. However telnet works - the telnet part is implemented by me :). Secure WebSockets should work as well as far as I can tell. SSH will vary :/.
But I'll look at the ssh libs which are available.
