  • BBSLink or Doorparty; whats yer poision?

    I'm into LoRD and TradeWars 2002... some BRE and DoorMud. A couple quick-play ones from the 90s, too...

    I want to join and play Legend of the Red Dragon somewhere WITH people. I'm applying to both BBSLink and DoorParty. What is your favorite?

    Is there any other options that I should be thinking about? Any suggestions?

    Am I corrent in stating that Inter-BBS doors are different than these two, in the fact that YOU join other BBSes of your CHOICE with interbbs??? I *think* I'm more interested in an option thats setup and part of a network out of the box. I don't have enough sysops to create my own. ???

    Quazar door server is another that works in a similar way to the other two.

    InterBBS doors (there are a few in fsxNet) are connected by transfering files between nodes, usually by FTN transfer. You run those doors on your BBS whereas
    with the BBSLink and other options the doors are run by others on a remote server.

    I use BBSLink, Doorparty, and Exodus. Different games from different servers. Just look at what each has to offer and pick/mix/match. Nothing says you have to use just one.

    When I played, LORD for sure. Could never really get into DoorMUD, BRE, or TW2002. Actually, I really like FE, but that was only if others were playing.

    Yeah, they're different, but kind of the same. They're networked door games,
    so it's *kind of* like being in a league, just without the mailed packets.

    I'm not familiar with DoorParty but have used BBSLink. Its a good site (maybe a little slow sometimes for me but I think thats my crappy internet's fault).

    I've been seeing these references to an InterBBS in FSXNet. I'd like to find out more about that and see if I can set up some doors to connect here

    apam wrote For Honour and Galactic Dynasty and they are both updated regularly and hatched in the FSX_DOOR area. You can also grab them if needed/interested on Agency BBS.

    For Honour is a L.O.R.D. like game and Galactic Dynasty is SRE like but they both go their own way and are highly recommended.
