Why are the version numbers different for Windows and Linux Synchronet BBS?

Hi Rob,
In case not aware, Janis closed up on the 31st. We are reworking the filebone.
To get them hatched out (you may have taken care of that already) but get them to Vince Cohen or Dallas Hinton (or me). Announcements in the wings shortly. If you need emails: I am at cshenk54@yahoo.com.
More info later as a filebone redevelops.

They're not. If you're talking about Vertrauen (i.e. cvs.synchro.net versus vert.synchro.net), that just means I haven't re-build/run all instances of sbbs on Vertrauen yet.

Why is there no YouTube video for 3.19b?

Because you haven't made one yet. :-P

I was abashed to see a new version.
Now that's what I call a fantastic surprise! :-)

Why would there be?

There was one for 3.18b.

Ahhh, so there was! I sometimes forget that people use SBBS on Windows.
Thanks for reminding me! ;-)

I've been running Synchronet on Windows since I started using
Synchronet. I've thought of switching it over to Linux but just
haven't yet.

Linux is a great alternative to Windows. I ran it before when I had a desktop pc and loved it.
I have a second PC running Linux (which I use as a Plex media server, among other things). I actually have my BBS running in a Windows virtual machine on that PC. So far I've kept my BBS in Windows, partly because if it's not broken then don't fix it. It would take some work to get it migraded to Linux, though I imagine it probably wouldn't be too difficult. I do have one Win32 door set up on my BBS (Ambroshia: Test of Time), which has been played before by some users on my BBS, but I'm not sure how much it would be missed.

You can actually run *both*, like I do. So long as the Linux-sbbs
instance and the Windows-sbbs instances have access to the same sbbs directory tree, they can live together harmoneously, serving a
different set of nodes each (that the purpose of the
FirstNode/LastNode values in your sbbs.ini file). I actually run 3
instances of sbbs: Win7-32 on bbs.synchronet, Win10-64 on
vert.synchro.net and Debian-Linux-64 on cvs.synchro.net.

If you want to know more about how to do that, just ask. There may be a wiki page on it already or I if not, I should write one.

Can't you install it on your I-Pad? It would be a really great way for you to do the things with the stuff.

I've wondered about that. I might try doing that to make sure I have a working setup in Linux before fully moving my Synchronet over to Linux (if I ever end up doing that).
