• Linux Criptlib

From IB Joe@1:342/201 to All on Tue Mar 4 14:08:06 2025
I'm having an issue... I wanted to switch my Mystic BBS from Windows to Linux Ubuntu... I ran things in parallel for some time with both Windows and Linux versions. I had the Linux version on a mini PC that I had for some time and I started to have problems... I lost everything...

I bought a new mini PC, not as strong/fast as my old one...

Mini PC, Beelink Mini S Intel 11th Gen 4-Cores N5095, Mini Desktop Computer.

Anyway... Installed Mystic and it says I'm missing the cryptlib. I went through the install procedures and during that procedure I saw an error come up that said it did not support my processor.

    Ideas??

    Thanx

Check out the Mystic Wiki, there is a section on how to create a cryptlib by changing I believe it is GCC to an older version then changing it back after you have created it. You can even do it on another PC just to get the file created then copy it to the Beelink..

I did that and that's were I get the error.

I'm not a Linux person, I dod the best I can. I was hoping to learn a little Linux by porting the BBS over.

There is a plan B and C... but I don't want to have to go there...

    Thanx though...

what directory do I put it in??

    if you start mystic like

    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=<location> mis server

and if it honors that, you can put it wherever you want without affecting
other software on the system that might mistakenly find it and try to use it.. since in general not running up-to-date crypto libraries is kinda bad.

that also means you can cram it in a bbs related folder that you'd be more inclined to back up vs the base os junk :)

Hey Joe, check your email.. I just sent it.. It goes in the /usr/lib directory. Once put there reboot the BBS or boot it if it is not running and you should be good to go..

Let us know how you make out...
