I spent quite a while in communications with my uplink yesterday and I think we have it figured out.

My Fido Hub is 3:640/1321 so the only routing info I have for it is 3:*

I then created a new one I called: Fidonet NC
using an address of 1:135/0 and the Route Info is: 1:* 2:* 4:*

It seems to be working quite well.

If you're in Zone 1 (North America), why would your Hub be in Zone 3 (Australia)? Looks to me like your hub is probably 1:135/300.

Just want to reiterate to others who may see this to avoid any confusion:

Avon's videos will still work for you but are slightly outdated in terms of echomail setup these days. Mystic has changed in A47 and A48 specifically to simplify this with a better default install and automatic routing.

To connect to FidoNet with Mystic A47 (and even moreso in A48 because it has a slight adjustment to its automated routing logic specifically for FidoNet) all you have to do is:

1. Set your echomail address in EchoMail Addresses configuration
2. Configure the connection to your hub in EchoMail Nodes (no need to touch routing configuration unless you have very specific requirements).
3. Enable the echomail events in your Event editor
4. Enable/configure the BINKP server if you wish to have a full time mailer running.

Everything else should just work. You don't have to touch routing, or create .ini files or anything like that these days unless you have a very specific reason to!

We also had one of these in my old Net 252. Yes it did work great... P.C. eventually moved to straight FTP stuff later on I think.

Well, yes..... but his origin line is from Net 135. Wouldn't he likely be hubbing from that Net? Why would a person have a node number in a Net,
and not get mail from that Net also?

It's the InterNET... Your address should reflect your physical location... Doesn't matter where you get your mail from... I poll for for echo mail in Toronto... maybe more than 2000 miles from me... send my netmail to my local NC... It's not like I have to pay long distance charges to poll Toronto for mail.

i thought about it at one point but never jumped...

from what i saw of it, yes... they exported to an address that everyone had to use and the stream was quite continuous at the time... as the files arrived, your system just tossed them as normal... traffic back to PC went by standard landline, as i recall... you could tell when your system's posts made it out because they would come back to you via the satellite feed...

my only real experience with it was when helping another operator with their WWIV setup trying to toss it all back then... at that time, the FTN<->WWIV tossing was a two pass thing... the first pass with a FTN tosser to MSG format followed by the WWIV tosser going from MSG to WWIV's internal format... i was called in to assess why the MSG files were not being tossed into WWIV... in this case, it was because the WWIV MSG tosser was being too strict and looking for terminating null characters that didn't exist... so i whipped up a quick tool that appended the needed null characters to all MSG files between the FTN tosser's run and the WWIV tosser's run... that fixed the problem of inbound...

outbound worked the opposite way... WWIV to MSG and then FTN tosser to package from there to linked systems... my tool was not needed at this stage since the FTN tosser wasn't as strict...

it all worked well enough for the time period... i don't recall what happened with that system, though... it just wasn't there one day... i suspect the operator and his family moved as i've never heard from them since and the few times i was in the area and thought to stop by their place, there was no vehicles in the yard so i just kept going...

maybe but systems can get a feed from any other system they can set up an agreement with... long gone are the days when one supposedly had to get their feed from within their net...
