• 12 Days Of Christmas

From Rug Rat@1:135/250 to All on Thu Nov 20 21:09:13 2025
I have not bee able to find anything offical yet for 2025, but being that November is marching along the annual 12 Days Of Christmas event is almost upon us!!

If you have never participated, the object is to make contact with all 12 of the host stations between December 14th and December 25th!

You will get a certificate with the stations you contacted! If you contact all 12 you will get a "Clean Sweep!" Last year there were 2 bonus stations in Canada.

I was able to contact the 12 stations and both Canadian stations and received a CLEAN SWEEP PLUS!

Hope to hear you on the air..

Embarresingly enough, I did not participate in the 12 Days of
Christmas at all this year. Not one of the calls made it into
    my log.

To me, the 12 Days of Hamming, or Ham For The Holidays is this:

12 hours at Field Day, 11 new harmonics, 10 different Wouff Hongs,
9 modes on digital, 8 the hamfest start time, 7 nights of net logs,
6 meter clean sweep, 5 band DXCC...4 sets of antennas, 3 different
radios, 2 license upgrades, and a license, callsign from the FCC. :)

Even worse, it was just because I did not feel like getting on
    the radio.

If you get burned out on any hobby, it's time to take a break.

    2026! Do better! :)

That starts with writing 2026 on net logs. <G>

I like it... Especially the Wouf Hong..

I still rememeber my first meeting of the Royal Order of The Wouf Hong.

It didn't help that it was explained to me by a ham who was prior service and when I asked what was I was asked if I have ever participated in a Crossing The Line Ceremony.

Sadly.... The last couple of conventions have not held one...

Been more burned out on life vs. the hobby...

In fact the reason I came in here tonight was to ask why the heck a contest I worked last year, and I really want to see if I can beat my score just happens to be scheduled on the weekend I told myself I need to force myself out of the house!!

    Brent,

I still rememeber my first meeting of the Royal Order of The
    Wouf Hong.

When they said "assume the position", it brought the house down in
    raucous laughter.

I have a photo of the Wouff Hong, the Rettysnitch, and the Ugerumph.
I understand that Vaseline is optional..and it looked like they might
make good scratchers (never mind a scratchy signal), because "the
severeity of the itch is proportional to the reach". I bought a deal
off of Amazon, basically a "back scratcher" that you could extend like
a portable antenna. Before that, I'd have to go find a wall to rub up
    against. <G>

It didn't help that it was explained to me by a ham who was
prior service and when I asked what was I was asked if I have
ever participated in a Crossing The Line Ceremony.

I don't recall the "crossing the line" terminology, but I will say
that inductees do get a nice certificate...and you will do a lot of
    laughing. :)

In fact the reason I came in here tonight was to ask why the
heck a contest I worked last year, and I really want to see if
I can beat my score just happens to be scheduled on the weekend
I told myself I need to force myself out of the house!!

I rarely leave the QTH anymore, as I can no longer drive or have a
car, due to dry corneas causing blurred vision without warning. But,
with a large amount of flu and RSV going around now, it's best that I
    stay home with my hobbies.

    All right sir!!

You have violated the secret conclave of The Royal Order Of The Wouf Hong witn your detailed desciption of a ceremony!

You shall turn in your certificate now...

The bats have been dispacted to collect.
