What I'd like to know is, how come an entire country (the USA) still think that Medicare for all is leftist, socialist evil shit?

If you pay for an insurance on your home, on your car, or any other insurances, isn't that all about having all the other insurancees paying for your eventual misfortune?

Final conclusion:

If you never have to use that Medicare for all insurance in your life, isn't that like winning the lottery, after paying only 4% of your salary? Like never having a hurricane or flood destroying your home?

I guess the next time that you get a medical bill for something like $68k for just an MRI exam (actual example) you'll regret your choice. And good luck with trying to get your private medical insurance company to pay for it. Movies like Erin Brockovich springs to mind...

We don't all think that. The people who are bankrupted by serious medical treatment don't think that. Anyone who's had cancer treatment doesn't think that.Anyone who's had children in post-natal care doesn't think that. Anyone on a maintenance drug like Insulin doesn't think that. Anyone with a serious allergy doesn't think that.

Anyone who realizes that for-profit health care is ultimately bad for the welfare of the body politic doesn't think that.

Anyone who realizes that not being able to afford preventative care and
ending up in the emergency room is ultimately more costly doesn't think
that.

Anyone who pays COBRA rates for self-insurance when they're unemployed
doesn't think that. Hint - paying for insurance out of pocket is far greater than unemployment benefits.

Anyone stuck in a job they hate because they need the medical insurance for their family doesn't think that.

Unfortunately, having spent 7 or 8 years in the USA I have to state that Bjorn is correct.

We (Belgium) have a system which is similar to what Bjorn's Sweden has, What it means I can demonsrate with 2 examples.

First during my weeks long Covid19 hospitalisation and all subsequent treatment, the final bill for me was 229 Euro which today is 251US$, the full bill was something around 20.000Euro, close to 22.000US$. The system I'm enrolled in takes care of it. For your information, my wife was also hospitalised, roughly the same bill.

Second, my daughter needed a gall bladder surgery after delivery of a baby (quite common). About a week in hospital, private room, the works. In the end the bill was 1,49 Euro (less than 2 bucks) because she asked for an extra bottle of water ...

When Bjorn's wife had to be airlifted to a specialised hospital further away, it was with a C130 ... I don't think he had to pay for it.

That's how our government mandated medical insurance works. It's for everyone, also the nameless bum sleeping in the park.
