Yes, he's been good about that. Right now he's trying to figure out how
to get something printed from the tablet. At one time I could do it but then somebody, somewhere along the line, reconfigured something and I can't any more.

Quick & easy work arounds -

Transfer file to a thumb drive and "sneaker-net" it to a confuser you *can* print from.

    OR

E-mail attach the file to be printed and send it to Steve so he can print
what needs done while you're fussing with putting the wonky unit back to
    where it works correctly.

    1 c A-P flour
    6 tb Chilled butter; chopped

I like this workaround because it is low tech. I can use a USB2GO adapter
or a USB hub and the Ghost Commander app to copy the file to a flash drive.
I do the same with DOS. Rather than jump through the hoops to make a
printer work in DOS, i sneakernet output through my Linux box.

It sounds as though Google may kill this off in the future when they
remove the ability to side-load apps.

    Title: Currant Jelly Thumbprint Cookies
    Categories: Cookies
    Yield: 36 Cookies

    1/2 c Butter
    1/4 c Brown sugar; packed
    1 Egg; separated
    1/2 ts Vanilla
    1 c Flour
    1/4 ts Salt
    3/4 c Walnuts; finely chopped
    Red or black currant jelly

Jelly jewels in a butter cookie nest dusted with nuts.

Heat oven to 350?F. Mix butter, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla
thoroughly. Work in flour and salt until dough holds together.
Shape dough by teaspoonfuls into 1" balls. Beat egg white slightly.
Dip each ball into egg white, then roll in nuts. Place 1" apart on
ungreased baking sheet. Press thumb deeply into center of each.
Bake 10 minutes or until light brown. Immediately remove from
baking sheet. Fill thumbprints with jelly.

    Recipe by Betty Crocker

    Terry's Notes:

I like to fill cookies while still warm--it"melts" the jelly evenly
in the hole so that it's not a "blob" sitting there looking at you.
These also freeze beautifully if separated by layers of wax paper
(so the jelly doesn't smear) and wrapped well or stored in plastic
    containers

I think he used a mix of those two methods. Whatever, it worked and now
I have a print out of lemon curd bars to try. That'll be after the fig
upside down cake recipe I got yesterday. Tree is still putting out but
slowed down and we're letting birds enjoy the figs. We've still got some

I've been considering putting in some cold hardy figs. But to do it would require disruption of my dise yard. I think I'll leave well enough alone.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

    Title: Hot Pepper Jelly
    Categories: Condiments, Chilies
    Yield: 10 Half pints

1/2 c Hot red chilies; seeded,
    - coarse chopped
1/2 c Hot green chilies; seeded,
    - coarse chopped
    1 c Chopped onion
    1 1/2 c Cider vinegar
    5 c Sugar
    2 Pouches liquid pectin

This recipe is very good served with country ham or with
    green beans or peas.

PLACE THE HOT CHILIES, onion and vinegar in a food processor
or blender. Process until very fine. Pour the sugar into a
heavy non-aluminum pot. Stir in the chile mixture, bring to
a boil, and boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and stir
in the pectin. Let sit 5 minutes and then remove the foam
with a slotted spoon. Ladle into sterilized jars and seal.
Turn the jars upside down occasionally to keep the chiles
mixed until the jelly is cool and set.

This jelly makes wonderful Christmas gifts too.

It would take several years for the tree to get established and bear
fruit. This is our 10th summer in this house; IIRC Steve planted the fig
tree around our 3rd summer. It took maybe 3 years to get established,
then had a few (just enough for eating as they ripened) figs. Then the
next maybe 3 years it gradually increased production; in summer of 2021
I made 3 jars of fig preserves in addition to what we ate out of hand.
Summer of 2023 I made 18 jars, of which we're still eating on (and have
given some away). Both last summer and this year, I've been doing other
things with the crop, including taking a 3 quart bowl filled to
overflowing to our church. Last year they didn't go, probably due to our declining membership so we only took them once. This summer 2 families basically cleaned out the bowl between them both Sundays we took it.
I've tried several fig recipies over the last couple of years, probably
    will try more next year.
