oh, when he was asking about hosting virtual servers, i thought he meant he wanted to be a provider.
anybody can run a vm as long as they have a 1ghz+ cpu and about 2gigs of
ram of course it depends on what you are using it for. you would have to increase your requirements.

I run the majority of my stuff on VMWare these days. (esxi 4.1). Tho I ->also use Proxmox for the real 'low end' stuff.
