I downloaded Mint 12 and am evaluating it in virtualbox.. Gnome 3 chased me over to KDE (Kubuntu) but if I decide to reinstall my desktop for some reason i might switch to Linus Mint.
Anyone Else try it out?

Yes. I installed it in VBox, booted it up, had a big "meh" session, and destroyed the VM. Unexciting is how I'd rate it. To each his own, tho!
I have not, but I am thinking about switching distros on my laptop. I
might give it a whirl.

I'm not "excited" about it either. But, I do care for Gnome3 .. and since
I found Gnome2 to very useful...Mint 12 seems to fill the niche.. You
don't agree?

Art, I'm curious, what Desktop, if any, do you run?
I'm still running the last Ubuntu LTS on my laptop.. I haven't decided on what distro I'll use when it's time to upgrade it..
But I do know one thing.. I'm going to start running the LTS version on all my desktops next time I upgrade.. I'm getting tired of fighting with upgrades every 6 months or so...

Try Sabayon (http://sabayonlinux.org).. it's a rolling distro. New versions come out, but if you upgrade regularly, you're already at the new version, without having to go through a "dist-upgrade" as you do on Ubuntu.
Comes with most popular choices of desktop environments, and is by far, IMO, the most complete linux distrobution while still keeping you a linux user. A the default graphics and installation music is just an added bonus. :)
I use Sabayon_KDE currently, and love it!

Agreed, however in a VM I did not find any advantage to running Mint over a slimmer distro. The MGSE stuff may help get over the initial shock of Unity, still, I'm not sure where Gnome 3 is headed; likely not towards making MGSE standard part of Gnome 3.
These days I'm using XFCE4 more often than Gnome or KDE desktops, as I can b fairly certain it's not going to get a complete UI revamp anytime soon.

I run Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Debian and Arch machines, mostly.
Kind regards,

I tried Sabayon and I like it very much... I'm gonna give it a try on the laptop soon.. That 2G download took a while though...I wasn't in a hurry so I downloaded it via torrent.
