    Here's a bug from 2005: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/12301

    That I am currently looking to resolve on Karmic (9.1 or whatever)

    Any time I restart with the monitor off, the resolution gets set to
    640x480. Let's see your Win7 do that ;P

    I have an anonymous Geforce2MX in. I have another one I tried with the
    same results. I put an ATI Radeon 9600 in but got a nice blank screen. :o
