I used to also see those typse of posts from BBSes that use a forum interfac such as vBulletin. vBulletin had a plug-in that could connect it with an NN (newsgroup) server, which allowed it to be used with Synchronet if a sysop desired.

Yep, I did. I knew of one sysop (Jon Justvig) who had vBulletin set up and getting spam posts from it.

oh i think i helped him do it. he must have borked some settings up if someone could make an account and post. i always had that shit locked down.

I had helped him a bit with vBulletin at the time. I thought vBulletin was cool, but eventually stopped using it.
