I'd entertain any suggestions for the next 60 cap-free days...
I just got the email from Xfinity that they're moving me onto a 1
Terabyte data plan, after not enforcing a 250 GB cap for the past few years.
Down at the bottom of the notice was the following gem:
"We offer two courtesy months so you will not be billed the first two times you exceed a terabyte of usage."

How much does it cost per month?

I think I'm paying around $160 for all the cable channels, telephone with unlimited nationwide calling, and 120/10 internet. Plus taxes and DVR fees.

Hopefully there is another internet provider where you live that doesn't enforce data caps.

That's not how it works, if Comcrap is in your area there is no alternative. They don't move into an area if there's another ISP (Time Warner, Google) in the area.
Huh? Comcast is in my area, but there are other ISPs too: Frontier, CenturyLink,
and maybe a couple others. So I don't know where you got that.

In rural and non-major cities (at least around here NorCal) while there may be 1-3 ISP options, there's USUALLY only ONE choice. In our areas you
either have Comcast, and if you can't get Comcast, AT&T or Charter (which
is on the AT&T network) are your only options, and with the later being
i'm in se wisconsin and att and tw cable carve out their business. i couldnt get att at my old appt, but 1 block away i can. then 2 blocks
away from here there's a guy i know who was using this weird throwback
isp with dialup and dsl and low speeds.

Rural or City?

You pretty much pray for Comcast. Which is sad because their service is horrible (but fast).

I've only read 2-3 lines of this thread, but I can tell I'm not gonna
like it.
ISPs in america are embarrassing. I'm about a 15 minute drive from pF,
but i'm in such a rural area I'm lucky that AT&T has a DSL uplink
nearby (or whatever you call them), otherwise I'd be high and dry. At least pF gets 100mbps+ offerings.

I get 120 down and 20 up, but I'm sorely tempted to find one of the reputable AT&T resellers like Sonic or Cruzio that would provide
reliable service at a lower speed without blocked ports.
I'm 5K feet from a CO, so I'm lucky with regards to DSL.
