Too bad those satellite phones are pricey to use, it's around 6 euros per minute here, compared to a 0.03 euros per minute for a POTS line.
I have a stash of them at work, we save them for execs who are going to be out of coverage. When I need to deploy one it's fun to dig one out, charge it, go out to the campus quad and fold out the antenna. I'll usually look around furtively, call my cohort's cell phone and report a series of number strings into the phone while watching my back.
