Now I know I have the 2wire wetup correctly but when I try to connect from outside the lan synch control panel picks me up and gets my hostname and all but never connects me, it'l connect locally in a pinch... here is my 2wire setup, anyone have any ideas??

Do you think someone outside of my LAN would have this problem? it's giving me the hostname of vexed2whatever.gatewa.2wire.net when it should be vexed2watever.windstream.net or something to that extent.. I don't understad this issue.

The 2wire router is doing this. Their DNS server is crap which is why I lobotomized my 2wire.

However, what you're seeing is not *really* a problem except cosmetically.

I see that google is already crawling my website, I cannot connect to my own hostname but it appears that people on the outsite of the 2wire can.. so that make me feel better, i've temporarly put a new user password on the board until I can get it the way I want.

Yeah, thanks, I have it all working great, I see you've been playing with HTML menus, what type of client is needed for this? I've been wanting to make a telnet client that supports gui in one way or they other that works with synchronet, something better than rip or naplps though. I had a client in the making along with a menuset that sent it commands a couple years ago but I lost all my code for that, it was only created in visual basic but I did have some things working on it, I've just always wanted to toy with the idea of having a graphical BBS while staying away from the www, etc.. I'm sure html would deliver some great menus but I was trying for something much more interactive.

Hi mrproper,

That sounds like a problem with the DNS loopback of the router. You may be able to toggle this option in your configuration somehow; it was necessary here to be able to connect using FQDN to services hosted internally of my ADSL router.

You need a magical build of SyncTERM which may or may not work anymore. Until I get a GUI front-end on SyncTERM, the whole thing appeared too hackish.

I'm currently contemplating other stuff, but the HTML thing is about the best I've done so far.

thanks, I'll dig it up and play around some, i've been foofling with your lightbar module too and I love it, makes that part of my BBS look great and is very simplistic, I went for a high contrast white on black feel for it.
