  • CB vs HAM

    You guys are still going on about this? The toiletmouthed CB users that put everyone off using it are the same as the elitist cliquey kaffe klatch HAM users. In both cases they are the minority but each side uses the other as an example of why the other side sucks. Yes the HAM operators are legally
    allowed to make their own equipment despite the vast majority sitting in
    front of their yaesu turning the big shiny knob to the frequency they want displayed on the easy to read LCD. Most CB users sit in front of their rig
    and yack away in exactly the same manner - many of them using exactly the
    same equipment (unlocked multiband ham rigs) and many of them using both HAM and CB. Both sides bend the rules a little when operating despite however
    much they deny it. If it wasn't for rule bending in the UK we wouldn't have
    had a CB band at all created for us in the 80s. OK CB users may not use a VFO but sitting there with a chart and using the channel, the band, and the assortment of shift and alpha controls on the rig to get to the frequency we want to use does still need skill, as does manufacturing and tuning our own antennas. Most of us do this for the love of radio and this is why many CBers do it the same as the HAM users do it. For the most part the problem makers have all gone to bother people on the internet instead anyway. How about we just call it a draw and instead have a go at the people using PMR radios >:D
