I found one in the men's room on top of the soap dispensor, and my wife found one on the floor in a gas station i worked at. But, what if the garbage man and his low pay doesn't have enouhh money for a mask, and sees one in the trash, and decides to use it, because its mandated, and the person who wore it last had the covid-19 virus. Then he'd likely contract it as well.

my coworker is working for the company i was doing PT work at and he makes 20 bucks and only works 2 hours and gets paid for 4.

in the big city i live in most garbage men make 24.6-44.7k per year.

Who the hell is going to pick up a used mask off the ground or from the trash and put it on? Most places I have been to if you don't have a mask they have a box of them by the entrance and are more than willing to give you one.

I also find this societal view of garbage men confusing. The majority of garbage truck drivers are not dirty, uneducated, lazy or poor. They are hard working and dedicated and they get up at 3 am 5 or 6 days a week and work holidays and weekends to keep their neighborhoods and cities clean. I can pretty much guarantee you that the garbage man that picks up the trash from your gas station makes 3 times as much money as you do working at the gas station, he doesn't need to dig through the trash for a used mask.

I suppose it depends on where you are working (city, state) and for which company. Here in Utah roll off or residential drivers start at around 50k a year and front load can make 80k or more. I've heard of drivers making more in other states, especially people that work for the bigger companies with unions.

I've never earned above the poverty line, so my first IT Job I landed with the Feds, I was making $16 an hour. I was offered a promotion to a supervisor and I tunred it down because the jump to $19 an hour didn't represent a significant enough change in my financial wellbeing for the added responsability and work load. I ended up with the nick name "Big Lobster" because I tried to explain to my coworkers about how lobsters fight each other, and how the big lobster flexes and becomes bigger.I was telling them at this job making that pay I was Big Lobster because for the first time in years I had 4 didgets in my bank account.

Needless to say I went on to continue to make an ass of myself and then got subsequently shit canned. I wasn't a very big lobster on that day.

Since then I've reverted to being a hermit shut in and refuse to participate in society. It's pretty fucking great doing nothing all day.

My point in all of this being, I'm sure with a higher cost of living in a major city like NYC, Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, LA, or wherever, you're not gonna get very far even on 30k.

I've heard Pittsburg is cheap as hell though. Flights area also as cheap as $30.
