Slovakia is bad because we have 1500 cases in one regular day.
We can go out of our houses just between 1pm and 5pm. We don't have more space in hospitals.
So we're at home and we study from home and so on as it was in the 1st wave. I'm browsing some cool BBSes and creating some ascii art.
Well, some people are not believing that COVID-19 is real. Or believe or not someone still don't know how to wear a facemask. We're closed till november 27th.
We will have a long time in home. Please be careful.

Businesses are closing left and right, curfews, and people still organizes parties at home and gets infected there :-S Meanwhile the number of people who eats at charity kitchens is going through the roof.

That's why I always ignore cases. What I want to see are numbers of hospitalizations from COVID (not *with* COVID) and deaths from (again, not *with*) COVID.

But they almost never show those numbers. If they did, people would see that COVID isn't nearly as bad as the propaganda machine is making it out to be.

Up to some days ago, the media was blaming Madrid's autonomic government, until the "Trumpist" party asked for a vote to remove the Prime Minister from office and the party of Madrid's autonomic government voted to support the Prime Minister - after which most complaints have ceased. Gossip has it that they stuck a deal in order to support the prime minister in exchange of stopping all the smearing against Madrid.

I personally blame everybody, since we, as individuals, are just taking no precautions and acting as if nothing was happening at all.

There is no fixing stupidity. You can decree a curfew but it won't do good
if people keeps having beer parties at home and whatever.

Also, I think this would be a good time to bring homeschooling up, because right now schools are brimming full and you are absolutely not preventing kids from passing the virus to each other. There is a school near my business and I am sure that if a kid had it at the begining of last week, now every single one of them has it already.

What I find disheartening is that we have all the bad from the virus - panic, lack of confidence, government overstepping - but none of the good - people being reasonable and taking precautions.

SUUUUUUCKS.

Please, somebody nuke this place with everybody in (but take my horses out before pressing the red button!)

I am not interested in case numbers either. As a doctor said "a case is when someone gets sick from a disease, that's completely different from a positive test." This shows that the government have misinterperated the definition of a case.

Locally cases are up. People requiring hospitalization are up at a similar rate. On the other hand, people requiring ICU has remained steady. The
surge in overall cases has not caused a surge on the demand for ICU units.
So, there are more cases but a lower percentage of them are severe.

That is something that rarely gets mentioned. It makes me believe we are starting to actually get some sort of handle on this, as certain
politicians have claimed.

Because COVID was last year's flu. We didn't have a flu season last year.

We actually did in my part of the country. It happened right before COVID
hit the news. Then, there started being some people who thought they had
the flu but didn't. Then the flu left the news as COVID replaced it, but
it was still around until they started closing everything.

I find it strange that you think ALL politicans have the same idea in relation to the formation of an authoritarian and cohersive state and that COVID has given them this golden opportunity. Surely if EVERY government began to implement draconian laws, it's due to a guiding hand? Or is it more likely that the politicans are all clueless and are copying China's lockdown model?

I am not sure it is China's model, but it is probably someone's. IIRC, and maybe I don't, China was not the first area to lockdown publically. They were still in public denial mode when some places locked down.

China were the first to lockdown. They locked down Wuhan back in late Januray or early February. The WHO praised them for their quick response in handling the virus and preventing the spread. The first Western nation to lockdown was Italy. They essentially copied China's model much to the annoyance of many of their citizens. The rest of Europe subsequently followed with Germany, Spain, France and the UK implementing similar lockdowns which were draconian but not quite as heavy handed as in China. One of the only countries in Europe which didn't lockdown was Sweden as they opted for the tried and tested "herd immunity" path.
