Not sure what you mean - the default plan is completely free and for lifetime, no expiration. The only thing that costs any money is if you want a enhanced membership (more pictures or files mainly) and i don't really expect most people to sign up.

No worries about pressure to sign up...

the bbs scene has some of the lamest people. even if you provided something that was a real great deal (like hosting for much cheaper with more features than what they could find), they will act like it's a rip off.

i did however get a lot of donations with bbses.info but when you take donations you are obligated to people. it's best not to have obligations in
a hobby.

I'm somewhat guilty, too. i should be donating to rick parrish for running that ftelnet proxy. when i get my bonus this year i will send him some money.

futhermore, if you see on seans fb group there's a sysop that opened up a telnet file server for other people to link to seamlessly so their users can share in the files. he's trying to get other bbses to participate. the dicks in the group just want to leech all his files so they can have it on their system; that's how people are. they are pretty much saying fuck you just gimme your files.

All BBS users are SysOps. I think I'm the only one that does not run a BBS H>anymore.

I have a few "non-Sysop users"...one loves the plethora of doorgames
that I have online.

However, online time the first part of the year (winter into spring),
and the last part of the year (fall into winter) are when Arkansas gets
most of its thunderstorms. And, that means BBS downtime, to prevent
lightning damage.

We do have a potential for it overnight, so I'll be shutting things
down before bedtime tonight, since storms are forecast to be in here by midnight. As a result, there may be a delay in this message going out.

As a 2 time lightning strike survivor, I don't want "the third time to
be the charm". However, I carry no electrical charge, and can be handled safely. <G>

Hi Marisa, this is very cool. I'm happy to participate. I'm curious; how are you checking for the online status of the BBS? Would be cool if there was no need for a BBS side facing push/pull mechanism similiar to how bbslink works. Though I'm not complaining about bbslink. ;)

the guy just setup a bbs that goes directly to the file menu and he wanted people to telegate ot it. it's nothing special.
