  • Nodelist

    Ive been talking to a sysop running a different type of board, and he needs a nodelist in order to be able to communicate with a network (Fidonet, etc).

    I see no option for a nodelist in SBBSEcho nor SBBSCFG. I dont see one in Irex either


    Can anyone shed some light to open my eyes as to what the function of the nodelist is, what its function is as pertaining to SBBS and SBBSecho. I understand its a mapping of nodes and such but why am I working when I have no configured nodelist?

    A nodelist is used for looking up a fidonet node address and from that, determing the sysop's name, the regional coordinator, the phone number of the mailer (if it has one) or the TCP/IP hostname or IP address (if it has one) and
    other data about that particular fidonet node.

    None. SBBS and SBBSecho do not use a FidoNet nodelist for anything. There have been doors and modules which can use a FidoNet nodelist to look up a particular
    sysop's name (from their address) or their address (from their name) for sending netmail, but that is completely optional and really has nothing to do with the tosser (i.e. SBBSecho).

    Because you're routing all your mail (echomail and netmail) through your uplink/hub, which is the normal configuration.
