• BinkP and Crashmail

    Hi, all,

I'm having problems with BinkP and Crashmail. I'm not sure if this is the right base to be posting in or not. I'm pretty sure my crashmail.prefs file
is right. The problem appears to be that Crashmail cannot see the incoming packets. It totally ignores them. Could it be that BinkP and Crashmail don't work together?

    Thanks,
    -ig

    Hello ignatius,

This area should be fine for anything *nix related.

Binkd and Crashmail should work nicely together. Does crashmail have R/W access to the files binkd is providing to it? That's one reason I can think of that crashmail doesn't seem to see the inbounds.

It should be actually. Those files are owned by root but it looks like
everyone has r/w access to them, as long as crashmail can step into that directory.

Are you using Mystic's BINKP, or binkd? Before mystic had built-in tossers
and mailer, I used binkp and crashmail. It worked fine for me. I suspect
you have some sort of misconfiguration.

I still have my binkd.cfg and crasmail.config if you need it and think it
    might help.

Sure. That would be great. Thank you.

The problem is that it doesn't acknowledge _any_ area that's defined in crashmail.prefs. In this case, "STATS". I'm not sure what the hell is wrong with my config file. I've looked over it several dozen times, and absolutely cannot figure it out. :(

Here's the shell script I use to call Crashmail:

    --begin-----

    pushd .
    cd /home/imp/cm/inbound
    chown imp:users *
    cd /home/imp/cm
    ./crashmail tossfile /home/imp/cm/inbound/ *.[STFWMstfwm][ouaherOUAHER][0-9A-Za-z]

    popd

    --eof----

    Here's my crashmail.prefs file:

Thanks for any and all help. It's much appreciated.

You've set up your AKA's as:

    AKA 1:154/10.11
    DOMAIN "FidoNet"

    AKA 46:1/124.0
    DOMAIN "AgoraNet"

    AKA 46:1/100
    DOMAIN "AgoraNet"

AKAs define YOUR BBS, not the BBSes you connect to. The AKA 46:1/100 is for Nick, not for you.

Then you have your NODE statements. These are for designating who it is you conect to. These should never be the same as your own AKAs.

    Your NODE statements:
NODE 46:1/124.0 "ZIP" "xxxxxxxxx" PACKNETMAIL AUTOADD CRASH
    REMOTESYSOP "Access Denied"
    DEFAULTGROUP B

NODE 1:154/10.11 "ZIP" "xxxxxxxxx" PACKNETMAIL AUTOADD CRASH
    REMOTESYSOP "Access Denied"
    DEFAULTGROUP A

I know that 46:1/124 is you. You should change it to 46:1/100.
I assume that 1:54/10.11 is your point node. It needs to point to your bossnode, which I will assume is 1:154/10.0

Thanks for your input. The only problem with that, when I change
"1:154/10.11" to "1:154/10.0" is that it says that the wrong password is
being used. Whereas when I keep it the same (1:154/10.11), it doesn't say
    that. Hmm.

You shouldn't be using a packet password with me. If you are, that's why crashmail is giving an error.
