Ok, in a last ditch effort, I translated the Linux path names to DOS path names, hoping that, that would make a difference in how IMP-MAIL.EXE tosses/imports the messages. Didn't work. So, it's clearly evident that IMP-MAIL.EXE is at fault. Bleh.
