    Hello All,

Did my last message to Tiny quote okay?

I get some wierd display differences in Thunderbird where it shows the text I quoted as format=flowed and spans my entire window - and resizing the window changes the width of the quote, rather than quoting those lines within the 80 character limit. While that's fine if it's /only/ something I see, but if it looks like garbage in other terminal windows, I would like to figure out the issue and fix it. This seems to happen after I save the message, as prior to saving it looks like it should).

I do the same thing when replying to every message, and most of the time it works and displays as expected, until the previous quoted message something didn't look right.

    Regards,
    Nick

Did my last message to Tiny quote okay?

yeah, seemed fine. I didn't notice any difference between that and any of the previous messages you sent.

Thanks. Maybe it was just a wierd glitch in Thunderbird, then. :|

I never could get used to reading/writing echomail messages in a GUI app.

If it actually worked as one would expect it to, it would by far be the fastest method of newscanning messages.

Alas, it seems Thunderbird just assumes people just quote the entire message (probably what most people actually did in newsgroups), and assume you don't mess with/modify/edit the quoted text to be more specific to what you're actually replying to (remove some quoted text, etc). There's sometimes blank lines where there shouldn't be, and just the opposite, blank lines missing when you specifically put one where you want it. ;)

There's no other GUI apps I would use besides TB, though.. as every other one I've tried is ugly as all get out.

slrn and even tin definitely do NNTP better, but then I'm still using ssh to my server machine where those (and Golded) are installed. I try to use Thunderbird from my Windows machine so I can bypass more steps of telnetting to the BBS, or what I mentioned above, if needbe.

Needless to say, I test out quite a few different methods, and pretty much agree with what you said above, as I always end up going back to a console app or directly from the BBS. ;)

Oh sure, you had the lazy folks, but for the most part, people quoated that which was only relevant to the messagee. Those were the days.

Then Thunderbird is just terrible at it, which is unfortunate, because I am quite used to, and enjoy the layout of the app itself. I've used it exclusively on my Windows machine as well as Linux desktop environments for email for years (on console I prefer mutt, but it's rarely used these days).
