    If you haven't yet, check out the talk from 343C entitled "BBSs and Early Internet Access in the 1990's". The speaker goes into great detail -- it's one of the best I've seen esp from a technical standpoint.

    Very cool.

    Snag it on Xibalba BBS in MKV format, or you can find it on YouTube and the like to stream.

    He explains it quite well. Back in the day, when I had my first board up,
    there were very very few boards available, certainly nothing in my areacode. There are WAY more bbs's now, than then. :-)

    He gets all twitchy and uncomfortable not getting to the login fast enough.
    I feel his pain :). I'm a rotten person with a black heart the way i force those screens before the login. I should be hung from a gibbet

    I just started watching it, and it looks interesting.

    And I noticed that just after 11 minutes in, he has a slide with a screenshot of my BBS (the login matrix, anyway).
