est of not pointing to anotherthread, I'm a twisty cube casu
al hobbyist and am learning advanced algorithmsfor top layer
solves. These are well known and well documented throughout the

Yeah, and for my reply, too. Just spent 10 mins typing then hit ^Q to quote but that's actually abort so here we are, but slightly terser.

Looking good so far, I would make 2 points:

1 - I learned to cube donkey's yonks ago so I had forgotten that green faces front - I'm not saying you should have "Green to front" in every setup instruction but presumably there will be a section somewhere describing notation and it would probably be worth mentioning it there?

2 - Some of them look messed up on my terminal, the third for example has no name or setup instructions? Further down I see some which are missing the back colours or the back colours show where the horizontal line should be separating back from top (if that makes sense). However I'm on my retro computer, via the terminal I wrote, so it could be me. I'll check with MuffinTerm and let you know.

But, even from my perspective, the ANSI I had on the draft message differs from what renders when I read the posted message. It's confusing to me.

I just hope the ansi looks right when I put it on my bbs - which I'm currently configuring for first use. My first bbs, actually. I"ll be a sysop at last.

Hi, Mortar.

Basically the cube has 6 faces:
(your) Left, (your) Right, Up, Down, Front (towards you), Back (away from you)

These are cunninly denoted as:
L, R, U, D, F, B

Where you see e.g. L, that means you turn the face which is on *your* left a quarter turn clockwise. Clockwise and anti-clockwise are "as you're looking at the face", so if you turn the back face anti-clockwise then because the back is facing away from you it will look clockwise motion to you.

On top of the face names there are modifiers - if you see L' that's a quarter turn anti-clockwise of the left face. F2 would be a half turn of the front face.

Sometimes you see L2' meaning a half turn anti-clockwise, obviously a half turn clockwise comes out the same as a half turn anti-clockwise - when you see this it's a hint that it's more fluid (faster) to turn it that way to knit into with the moves before or after. When multiple moves can be done in one fluid motion (a "finger trick") that may be noted in brackets, e.g. (R U' R).

There's also the lowercase versions of these moves (l, r, u, d, f, b) which mean you turn the face and the middle slice together, these are a bit less common. There's also x, y & z that mean you turn the whole cube to make it face a different direction... but that's really unusual.

As far as instructions are concerned you solve the plus (e.g. the edges, not corners) of the white face first, then hold the cube with the white face downwards and the green face towards you.

Probably a little bit more info than you wanted there but hopefully it was vaguely interesting :)

There is a nomenclature considered standard in the cubing world, regarding algorithms.

A standard turn is clockwise, and counterclockwise is denoted by a '

When looking at the cube straight on, the side facing you is

F = Forward CW
F' = Forward CCW

The left side

L = Left CW
L' = Left CCW

Right side

R = Right CW
R' = Right CCW

Back side

B = Back CW
B' = Back CCW

Bottom side

D = Down CW
D' = Down CCW

Center Slice Facing you

M = Turning top down
M' = Turning top up

Center Slice Horizontal

E = Turning right
E' = Turning left

Center Slice Perpendicular from D

S = Turning CW
S' = Turning CCW

There are a few more, but it's involving double layer turns or rotating the cube entirely, but they don't apply to my little guide.

My woes have ended. While I will go to a synchronet parallel system at some point, the problems I had have been remedied. They were namely the handling of python scripts.

My other woes is inability to connect to echonets and download messages. It's kicking my ass, if you will.

I'm not anymore.. I couldn't get mystic to handle my python scripts without crashing my connection. I'm now just running them as external applications and all is good.

My board's focus is on aviation.

And as a repository of information derived from API calls. The aviation tools I've implemented so far are live data from government sources. Got many more to bring in. Some API's are poorly documented so some scraping is required.

Got a movie lookup tool from omdb. Looking at pulling sports scores
and stock tickers. Currency exchanges. virtual currencies.

Weather has been beaten to the ground so I won't be making anything new.

My file area will be focused on online comics and rubik's cube algorithms and guides.

I have a ton of plans, with little time to implement.

It's not an acronym. It was my way of emphasizing the word.

I took your advice and tried your updated ichat. It kept crashing, so I reverted back. Others who tried it while I was discussing the issue on MRC and they had the same problem.

I can't live without a working IRC on my board since it's one of the most used doors.

is a alright starting point and a decent enough frontend (head back from the wiki page to the main project) to use with some local LLMs.

not sure what programming languages you're familiar with or if you've ever programmed door games but i think freepascal includes libraries to make http(s) requests pretty easily now, so you'd just combine the two. or perhaps sync can make the requests and you can do it that way.

Not really. I was just interested in learning about it and seeing how and where he was trying to implement it.

The trivia is a Eggdrop script (.TCL).

Simply rewriting the script where a question and answer is fetched. Replacing it with some API calls.

Okay, i'll try to remember how to misspell an answer then, until your rewrite.

I like the idea of using AI to synthesize questions. The problem is, AI is so new the development community hasn't figured out how to avoid bias (unless it's be design).
